Healthcare at a higher level: World-class quality + Local convenience and care.
Any measure of community quality must factor in the quality of healthcare assets. In Rolla-St. James, those substantial assets range from a groundbreaking outpatient clinic providing life-enhancing care to a cutting-edge research center where life-saving techniques are being developed and tested. Central to the quality equation is the Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC), leading with vital world-class care and robust fiscal fitness. The result is higher levels of health and satisfaction for the region’s residents. The facility serves as a healthcare hub. For residents of Rolla-St. James and surrounding counties PCRMC is a vital resource, serving over 200,000 people in south central Missouri with comprehensive, patient-centered care encompassing a range of specialties, from heart and vascular care to orthopedics to maternity and breast care, home care, rehab and even a sleep center. PCRMC’s staff of over 1,700 includes physicians and healthcare professionals delivering care in over 30 specialty areas in the 242-bed state-of-the-art facility, soon to include the new 37,000 sq. ft. Delbert Day Cancer Institute (DDCI.) The institute will provide patients access to clinical trials through DDCI’s participation in the National Cancer Institute’s Community Clinical Oncology program and comprehensive patient centered cancer care under one roof.
Charting a new course in outpatient excellence: Built in 2009 as one of the nation’s first outpatient facilities designed to specially support the digital flow and efficiency of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Mercy Clinic connects patients to superb care and service in a one-stop setting that provides both primary and specialized physician care. The Clinic’s EHR (the same system used by organizations such as the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics) not only allows healthcare professionals one-touch access to records, but also permits patients online access to their own charts and medical information, resulting in enhanced health tracking and physician contact as well as quick and easy appointment scheduling and prescription refills.
Promising research center: DDCI is also taking a leadership role in biomedical research as PCRMC continues key collaborations with Missouri S&T and private biomedical companies. Working together, these entities are establishing protocols that will enable more ground-breaking research like the recent joint effort between MO-SCI, Missouri S&T and PCRMC that yielded MO-SCI’s revolutionary new glass nano-fibers that offer break-through promise in the treatment of liver cancers and wound care.
An economic and community asset: Opened as a grassroots community effort in 1949, PCRMC is county-owned and non-tax supported. Its impressive growth—from a small hospital to a leading healthcare provider and powerful economic engine—has come about through a uniquely strong commitment and vision. Today, as PCRMC generates good jobs, attracting the finest healthcare professionals to the area and now greater economic investment through research, the organization’s commitment is also evident in PCRMC’s active community role, extending healthcare access to all residents and providing volunteer groups with financial resources.
The CENTRE features a spacious 4,000 square foot Fitness Area surrounded by expansive windows with impressive views. This area offers:
