ST. JAMES

The St. James Walmart Distribution Center was given an award for being named Distribution Center of the year, chosen from among all of the distribution centers around the country.

General Manager Brad Frazier was full of praise for the employees during a ceremony held April 28.

“I couldn’t be more proud of all of you,” Frazier said.

Former St. James Mayor Dennis Wilson spoke to the employees and congratulated them on the award. Wilson said he wanted to compliment all of the employees on their accomplishment and said how happy he was to have the Walmart Distribution Center in St. James.

“I want to congratulate you all,” Wilson said.

Additionally, Congressman Jason Smith sent a representative to read a statement that Smith had read into the Congressional Record in honor of the occasion.

“In order to receive this award, the employees of the Distribution Center in St. James distinguished themselves through their hard work, dedication and providing an example for others to follow. We’re very proud of their service to the community, Phelps County and the surrounding area. Their work ethic is truly admirable and it is my pleasure to recognize their achievements before the House of Representatives,” Smith’s statement said.

Frazier told the crowd of gathered employees that there’s a reason why other employees of distribution centers come to St. James to learn from the employees there, placing the credit with the employees of the distribution center.

“They learn techniques and methods but can’t take what counts and that’s you,” Frazier said. “They can take our methods, but they can’t take you.”

Frazier asked all of the employees who had been at the distribution center since it opened its doors on 9/11 to stand and come to the stage to accept the award.

The employees were dismissed with the promise of steak that was already on the grill.
