Mo-Sci Researcher Receives Award for Wound Care Technology

May 13

Steven Jung 2014 recipient of the Darshana and Arun Varshneya Frontiers of
Glass Technology Award

May 8, 2015 - Mo-Sci Corporation employee and Chief Technology Officer, Steven
Jung, PhD., spends his days heading up the R&D Department at Mo-Sci and working
with customers to develop and create solutions around bioactive glass applications. His
cutting edge development work recently landed him as the 2014 recipient of the
Darshana and Arun Varshneya Frontiers of Glass Technology Award for his
pioneering work with bioactive glass in wound care and synthetic bone grafts.
During his PhD program at Missouri S&T, Jung conducted research around a novel
borate based bioactive glass. After completing his PhD program, Jung continued on to
Mo-Sci Corporation, a Rolla, Mo. based company just miles from the university. Jung
and the Mo-Sci team are currently working closely with ETS, Engineered Tissue
Solutions, to seek FDA approval for a wound dressing made from a body of loose
borate fibers. Upon submission, the product received a Device Master File from the
FDA in just 4 days. Although the wound dressing awaits FDA approval for human use, a
veterinary form, RediHeal, has been successfully marketed.
