Brewer Science Opens Doors to New High-Tech Manufacturing Center

May 5

May 5, 2014 - Vichy, Mo. – Brewer Science today officially opened the doors on a new 25,000-square-foot manufacturing center that will expand Missouri’s technology footprint and result in the creation of 65 new high-tech jobs in the state.  The new center will produce specialty materials used in the creation of advanced microdevices, including the next generations of smartphones, tablet computers, and other microelectronics.

Brewer Science specializes in advanced manufacturing technology that has made microelectronic devices smaller, thinner, lighter, and more powerful.

“This expansion represents our commitment to creating next-generation technology with a Missouri-based workforce that is changing the world,” said Dr. Terry Brewer, president and founder of Brewer Science.  “For more than a generation, we have been focused on innovating and growing right here in central Missouri.  As our company has expanded globally, our home and headquarters has always remained in Rolla, where we have the best workforce and a community we love.  This expansion is our eighth in Missouri in our company’s more than 30-year history.  With this expansion, and those that have come before it, we have demonstrated that you do not need a Silicon Valley zip code to be a global technology leader.”

Federal, state, and local officials who helped make this project possible were on hand for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion, including Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer, Congressman Jason Smith, Maries County Commissioner Ray Schwartze, and Rolla Mayor Lou Magdits.

In addition to support from local governments in Maries and Phelps counties, the new center benefited from a federal grant supported by U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, and Congressman Luetkemeyer, as well as Quality Jobs tax credits issued by the Missouri Department of Economic Development with the support of Governor Jay Nixon.

“Dr. Terry Brewer has pioneered a small, startup into a growing, high-tech company that supports hundreds of jobs in his community and supplies high-demand products to customers around the world,” said Gov. Jay Nixon. “Brewer Science’s impressive growth demonstrates Missouri’s growing high-tech sector, highly skilled workforce and ability to compete in a global economy. I appreciate Brewer Science’s continued investment in Missouri and we are pleased that the state could be a partner in its expansion.”

“I’m excited for this next phase of expansion for Brewer Science, which will bring jobs and economic growth to the state of Missouri,” said U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.). “I’ll continue working to pass pro-growth policies that encourage manufacturing and technology in Missouri and nationwide so that we can restore America’s competitiveness and create more high-paying, high-tech jobs here at home.”

“Brewer Science opening its doors in Vichy will be a boost to skilled manufacturing jobs and help boost Missouri’s economy,” said U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (Mo.), who was born in Rolla, Mo. “With their headquarters in my hometown, and now the additional facility in Vichy, Brewer is helping the state of Missouri grow its reputation as a leader in new technology and innovation, and will pave the way for other employers to grow in our state in the future.”

"I congratulate Brewer Science on their new state-of-the art manufacturing facility in Missouri. The Department of Commerce is working with companies like Brewer Science and communities like Vichy everyday to get more businesses to invest in America and our workers," said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker.

“Our nation’s ability to make things is one of the most important factors in its long-term economic health,” said Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.   “An increasingly important segment of the manufacturing sector today is in the area of technology, where, more often than not, ‘Made in America’ is the highest standard for quality in the world. Thanks to the incredible success of Brewer Science over the past three decades, some of the most important ‘Made in America’ products also are ‘Made in Missouri’ … right here in Rolla.”

"Brewer Science's expansion is an outstanding example of high-tech industry greeting Main Street Missouri through job creation and economic growth right here in the Third Congressional District," U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (Mo.-3) said. "I am very pleased that Brewer's new manufacturing facility has found a home in Vichy thanks to the co-operative efforts of local, state and federal officials."

“For over 30 years Dr. Brewer and his team at Brewer Science have been at the forefront of innovation,” said U.S. Rep. Jason Smith (Mo.-8).  “This latest expansion will create 65 new jobs in the coming years. I look forward to seeing the expansion and working with the folks at Brewer Science to grow our regional economy.”

“Brewer Science is helping to drive the central Missouri economy and is proof positive that businesses can and will expand when given the freedom to do so.  Brewer Science is on the leading edge of high-tech manufacturing, and they are maintaining that level of excellence with an ever-growing Missouri workforce,” said MO Senator Mike Kehoe.  “I congratulate Brewer Science for the business success that has brought about this expansion, and I look forward to their continued growth and success in the coming years.”

"I m pleased that Brewer Science is having their ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of the newest manufacturing center,” MO Rep. Tom Hurst said.  “Again, this offers new jobs in my district and I am confident Brewer Science will find much success in this area as they continue to grow and expand.  The greatest asset of this area is it's people which is one of the reasons Brewer Science selected this area. I look forward to its continued success."

“I couldn’t be more proud of the teamwork and cooperation from all involved to bring to fruition economic opportunities for the Rolla and Phelps County region, said Rolla Mayor Lou Magdits.  “Brewer Science is a first-class global research and material supply company, and we are proud to support this new project.”

“It has been a pleasure to work with Brewer Science and the City of Rolla to bring this new manufacturing facility to the Airport and Maries County,” said Ray Schwartze, Maries County Presiding Commissioner.  “It is a positive step for our communities and I think it is the beginning of better things to come.  Brewer Science is a great company to be the cornerstone of the industrial park and we look forward to working together in the future.”

The expansion at the Rolla National Airport is expected to bring new economic growth to the Rolla Airport Technology and Industrial Park.  Brewer Science’s new center will serve as the anchor business for the new Rolla Airport Technology and Industrial Park.  Construction on the new center was completed in less than a year, incorporating many of the industry’s highest standards.  Environmentally friendly, energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling technology has been integrated into the new building. The new facility includes a storm shelter and state-of-the-art fire suppression systems.
